Monashee Powder Snowcats is dedicated to providing a high standard of professionalism and safety that is mandated by the HeliCat Canada Association. As members of this association our guides are trained and certified by the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) and Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) organizations to which MPS also belong and support.

Each group of 12 guests is lead by two or three guides, who are well versed and experienced in avalanche hazard forecasting, weather analysis, emergency mountain first aid, mountain rescue and even ski instruction techniques. 

The guides carry all the essential gear and equipment to handle emergencies in the field.  There is on-going communication between the guides and the snow cat operators and in case of emergencies, the snow cats are outfitted with additional rescue equipment, such as oxygen, a toboggan, spare ski s and poles and extra probes.

Snow cat operators are in radio communication with the base station at the Lodge, with a third snow cat at the lodge on standby.  Weather permitting a helicopter can be available within half an hour to evacuate an injured skier.

Each of our guests is equipped with an avalanche transceiver and given comprehensive instruction on its use for search techniques.  MPS has recently upgraded to Barryvox transceivers and our guides and guests have found them very easy to use.
